Examination Pattern for UPSC IAS exam 2013 : There would be following sections in IAS exam :
1. Preliminary Exam : This is the first test in this exam which would be conducted only in objective type pattern, and there would be two papers conducted as - General Studies - I and CSAT - II and both question paper contains 400 marks means 200 for each and dear remember that qualifying in each paper is necessary to be eligible for next step.
2. Mains Examination : This is the second test in this exam which would be conducted only in conventional type pattern and there would be various 9 papers conducted in this exam and qualifying in each paper is necessary and you would also have to choose any two subjects in this exam as optional and the complete examination pattern and list of optional subjects is following :
1. Paper first - Any one Indian Language - 300 marks
2. Paper Second - English Language - 300 marks
3. Paper third - Essay - 200 marks
4. Paper Fourth and Fifth - General Studies - I & II - 300 marks each
5. Paper Sixth and Seventh - Any one selected optional subject as I & II - 300 marks
6. Paper Eighth and ninth - Any one selected optional subject as I & II - 300 marks
Total marks alloted in mains exam for all 9 papers - 2000

Interview Process : If you successfully get qualified in mains exam in all 9 papers then you would get an interview call to face your personality test in the UPSC board and this process contains 300 marks and remember that, this is the final step of this exam and if you are prepared well then you can qualify and become an IAS officer in India

In a nutshell,I am telling you about the eligibility criteria for the civil services that is you need to have bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized university.You age must be between 21-30 years with age relaxation for the obc and sc/st respectively.You must be an Indian citizen.

Date of notification:02/02/2013
Last date of applying online:04/03/2013
Date of examinations: 19/05/2013.
