You can appear for IAS exam after B.Sc.
It is not necessary to do engineering for IAS exam.
The CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION is conducted every year by the UPSC for the selection of candidate for IAS
Required Qualification to appear for Civil Services Exam
-You should have passed Graduation degree in any specialization from recognized Institute.
-You are for civil service exam while in graduation final year.
-UPSC Civil service exam has no restriction on graduation percentage.
-Your Age should be within the limit of 21 to 30 years.
-You must be a citizen of India.
IAS officers are the backbone of Indian Govt.
All important daily affairs of the govt are handled by an IAS officer including framing & implementation of policy.
Therefore if any irregularities occur they are answerable to Parliament & State Legislature.
There are various coachings available.
But it is not necessary to go for coachings
If you can gather all the study materials & schedule your time properly
then you will not need any coachings
