IAS stands for the Indian Admnistrative services.The examination for this services comes under civil services.It is one of the toughest examinations of the India.Bachelor's degree is the minimum qualification required for it.the age limit is between 21-30 years.Relaxations are provided to obc and sc/st respectively.

Self study is the main key to get success in these type of examinations .Books are necessary along with hard labour with proper revision.As the general science has no limit ,so you have to be updated with the current affairs and recent happenings .

Hello Friend,

Its really nice that you have thought of becoming an IAS officer in your B.Tech Ist year. You can start your preparation by reading NCERT books for history, geography, economics, polity, sociology etc. Also, inculcate habit of a good newspaper daily. My advice is choose among The Hindu or The Indian Express. For the competition books, please read:
1- Yojana.
2- Kurukshetra
3- Civil Services Chronicle magazine.
4- Science Reporter.
5- Facets of Indian Culture by Spctrum.

Mind it that any competition book can't prepare you for IAS exam. Put more emphasis on building your base perfect so that your base can make you sail through all competitions.
