zMy name is malathi palani, i am 21years old. I am doing pgdfm course through mumbai university and i want to appear for ias entrance exam so what is the eligibility criteria for the ias exam and how to prepare for the exam, what are the reference books. Eligibility criteria for IAS exam is given below:-

minimum age limit is 21 years,
maximum age limit is -
for general categary 30 years,
for OBC 33 years,
for SC/ST 35 years.
Educational quilification
The candidate must hold any degree in any descipline from any recongnized university,
Final year degree students also eligible.

IAS exam is conducted under Civil Service Examination by the Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) in every year.

The Eligibility criteria for IAS Exam is:-

Candidate should be an Indian citizen.

Candidate should be completed Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized University.

Age should be between 21 years to 30 years for General category candidates.

Age relaxation for OBC category candidates 3 years and SC/ST category candidates 5 years.

Number of Attempts:-

General category candidates - 4 time

OBC category Candidates - 7 time

SC/ST category candidates - No limit.

1.Educational Qualifications:
Degree of a Recognized University.
Appearing Final year of requisite Degree educational qualification also eligible.

2.Age limits and Attempts:
General - 21 to 30 years with 4 attempts
OBC - 21 to 33 years with 7 attempts.
SC/ST - 21 to 35 years with no attempts.

### As you mentioned that your age is 21 years so, you are eligible to apply for IAS examination but there is a fixed limited attempts so, prepare hard then only apply.

>>> Examination pattern:
1.Preliminary Examination (objective type) 2 papers with 200 marks each
2.Mains examination.

-Paper I : Examination based on one 18 Indian Languages -300 marks
-Paper II: English (Qualifying paper) - 300 marks
-Paper III:Essay - 200 marks
-Paper IV and V: General Studies -600 marks
-paper VI,VII,VIII and IX :Any two optional subjects (each subject has two papers) - 1200 marks

3.Interview - 300 marks.
