well, you can write civil services exam which is conducted by UPSC once in a year. candidates who have cleared the examination are posted in the following services like
Indian Administrative service
Indian police service
Indian revenue service
etc ( 24 services are there) If you secure good score ( within 200 ranks) you can get IPS. Within this 200 ranks, state cadre is allocated based on the ranks secured by the candidates. After completion of training/probation, IPS officers are posted as ASP (additional superintendent of Police) in the alloted state. After successful performance as ASP, you can get into CID(crime investigation department) of the POLICE. there is no special recruitment for CID officer.
