M.Sc is a Master's Degree Level course under science stream that means you have already completed bachelor's degree in some disciplines so you are eligible to apply for IAS examination because to be eligible for IAS examination, you should have passed bachelor's degree examination in any stream of a recognized university or any other equivalent qualification from a reputed institute or university.
Your age should be between 21-30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines that would be provided to reserved category candidates as per government guidelines that is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBCs
You should not worry about your qualification because science stream is helpful in preparing for IAS examination because there are some certain topics in examination included from science stream as - General Science and Technology, Environmental Science and Ecology etc. so this may be profitable while preparing for this examination so you should concentrate over the preparation of this examination and focus on Indian Civil Service Preliminary Examination 2014
This year's ICS prelims has been conducted at 26th of May 2013 so next year's ICS will also be conducted around the same time so you have around 10 months to prepare and practice for this examination that may be utilized to become an IAS Officer and if you are honestly dedicated to your study then you can easily pass prelims examination of 2014 by giving more than 10 hours everyday for study and practice
For other details of this examination, you can download this attached advertisement of ICS examination 2014 and get all for more knowledge

hi,
yes, dear you graduation or M.Sc Genomic Science is fully valid for IAS post. for IAS you have to write Civil Services exam. and for Civil Services you need graduation degree in any discipline from recognized college or university with any percentage. So you need not to worry about any thing.
Civil Services exam is conducted by UPSC every year.
despite from that your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. There is also available relaxation in upper age limit according to government norms as 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Civil Services exam is conducted in three phases and you have to clear all the phases to become an IAS officer.
The three phases are CSAT(Prelims), Mains and Interview
there is also applicable limit of number of attempts like 4 for General, 7 for OBC and there is no limit of number of attempts for SC/ST candidates.

Dear Aspirant
The minimum educational qualifications set up by UPSC for appearing in civil service examination is graduation from any recognised university in any discipline and you are doing M.Sc so you are qualified from educational point of view and one more thing please keep in mind the age limit hope you have not crossed the maximum age limits of 30 years however it is relaxed by 3 and 5 yrs for OBC and SC/ ST respectively.
See it doesn't matter from whatever streams you have done study. The main thing that you have knowledge and you want to serve for your country by becoming an officers in Central government. It is very good thing. You need to work hard and prepare well as UPSC doesn't provide any optional paper from Gnemoic Science. But your dedication and work done will help you later
All the best
