Dear friend,
It all depends on your interest and deep knowledge about the subject. You have done your MBBS and you must be having a lot of knowledge about your particular subject,
So you have one option to choose that subject from your stream.
But its not a compulsion to choose optionals from your stream only. Because if you have interest in subjects like history, Psychology and you can mange studing them then I would suggest these type of subjects.
See it all depends of interest. You must have also seen many doctors clearing IAS exams with subjects from different backgrounds.
So if you can do well with your subject itself then its ok to choose your subject from medical field otherwise I would suggest to take subjects of arts stream.
You must read PRatiyogita Darpan and competition success Review. These magazines have good editotrials and essay which will help you a lot during your mains and in writing essays.
Also along with this subscribe to good newspapers like , THE HINDU. It has the best editorial and are of immense helpful for These type of competitive exams.
