Minimum required percentage in graduation to be eligible for CDS exam (Air Force Branch)? I scored 49% in B.Com. Am I eligible for CDS exam?

Hallo, my name is Abhinav Kumar Sharma,I've recently completed my cpl (commercial pilot training), currently I am 22.5 years old.
I want to attempt CDS exam for air force branch, I've also done my graduation in B.COM with 49%....
so I had to know that- am I eligible for attempting the exam, I am little confused regarding minimum % required????
earlier I saw on web minimum % was 60%, hence now I am also pursuing B.A ADDITIONAL (English literature) to have 60%.
but now I've seen there is no % required...
so please tell me, what are the requirement now...?

Hello

There were two entries for Air Force,1)CDSE(Combined Defence Service Examination),2)AFCAT(Air Force Common Admission Test).
Now minimum 60% is required for AFCAT entrance,but there is no minimum percentage required for CDSE entry.

But the issue is that you are not applicable for applying in Air Force.
The age you mentioned is 22.5 years.
Actually to apply in Air Force with a graduation degree,it is required to have 19 to 23 years(at the time of commencement of the course,not at the time of applying).
The selection process takes 1 year to complete,hence it is required that you apply when your age is in between 18 to 22 years.

Your current age is 22.5 years,after you complete the course your age will be 23.5 years.That is not within the criteria.

You can apply CDS exam after graduation degree from a recognized university with any percentage.

CDS exam stands for combined defence service which is conducted by UPSC twice in a year.

CDS exam is conducted to join;-

Navel academy

Air force academy

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Combined Defense Service Examination

Indian Military Academy : Candidate should have passed a bachelor's degree examination in any discipline from a recognized university or pursuing final year of a bachelor's degree, Age should not be less than 19 years and more than 24 years for IMA Section

Indian Naval Academy : Candidate must posses a bachelor's degree in Engineering in any branch or specialization from a recognized university, age should be between 19-22 years for INA Section

Indian Air Force Academy : You should be passed a bachelor's degree with mathematics and physics as a compulsory subject and age should not be less than 19 years and more than 23 years for AFA Section

Dear as you have mentioned that you have completed B.Com with 49% marks then i would like to say that UPSC board does not ask for percentage marks in any class during selection process or online application form so that your percentage marks are enough for CDS examination but you may not apply for Air Force section means you can not prefer AFA as your section for job because you have not completed a degree with mathematics and physics which is compulsory so that you can only apply for IMA section between these following dates

Start date for online application - 25-05-2013

Last date for online application - 24-06-2013

Date for UPSC CDS Examination - 08-09-2013

So you should not worry and apply for IMA section and get the job in defense sector and IMA is also has broad future so that you may easily develop your future into this section

sir I saw earlier, there was age relaxation for cpl holders i.e at place of 19-23, it is 19-25.

This is sorry to say but you cannot apply for the air force being from the commerce field because this is a compulsory criteria that you should be a graduate in a stream having physics or mathematics as your main subjects in your graduation.
If you not from the science stream then you cannot apply for the CDS exam in the air force wing

The minimum qualification for CDS is to pass the Bachelor degree in any discipline at any recognised university. But in case of the IAF (Indian Air Force), the minimum percentage is 60% in sciene stream only. sir as I saw in IAF site there is age relaxation for cpl holders in AFCAT for two years.
so as I mentioned earlier that I m also pursuing B.A ADDITIONAL, sir I had to know that- as I am appearing my all three years exams in one year, so will my this B.A ADDITIONAL degree be considered as three years aggregate degree for AFCAT criteria if I get 60%.
sir please tell me if it's considerable than I will be applying for AFCAT.

Sir If percentage is not the worry factor for CDS exam then how online candidates are selected.? what if he/she secured 2nd division in (10+2) and completed " honours in BE ".?.
