CDS I and CDS II are not related. You need to clear any one of the exam to get selected in Defence services. There is no such provision that you have to clear CDS I to be eligible for CDS II or vice versa. They are completely unrelated. But you can not apply now as you have just got into Final year. You can apply next year when you will be ready to leave final year in your final semester. You have to produce your degree before the Interview which is held around 3months after the written. If you apply now how will you get that???As a B.tech candidate you can also apply for AFCAT exam to get into Airforce.Check the website of Airforce to know more about AFCAT and its dates.Prepare well for CDS and AFCAT both as you have time in hand. All the best

No it is not necessary to attempt both cds1 & cds 2.
Both are similar. If you crack cds1 then it is not compulsary to appear in cds 2.
Cds exam held two times every year therefore these two cds exam are denoted as
    cds 1 & cds 2.

    Dear friend,
let me clear your doubt.CDS(I) and CDS(II) examination are same examination only difference is that both of these examinations are held at different time of a year. CDS(I) is held at March and CDS (II) is held in September month of a year.

Thats the only difference. These exams are conducted by UPSC at 2 times a year to select candidates in 2 rounds. The eligibility criteria, selection procedure and syllabus of examination is same for both CDS(I) and CDS(II) examination.

So if you are able to clear your CDS examination in 1 paper then you don't need to appear for other paper of CDS in the same year.

    Some eligibility criteria are:-
1.Candidate must be a citizen of India.

2.Candidate must have completed graduation from any government recognized university in any stream.

3.Age limits for different forces are-
    INDIAN ARMY 19-24 years
    INDIAN AIR FORCE 19-23 years
    INDIAN NAVY 19-22 years

4.You must be physically and mentally fit and should fulfill all the physical criteria as mentioned by UPSC for CDS Examination.

Thank you and all the best

    Hello

Let me tell you something about CDSE(I) and CDSE(II).

CDSE exam is conducted two times in a year and that is why it is named as CDSE(I) and CDSE(II).

But there is no difference between these two exams.

The syllabus, purpose, motive all are same.

No need to worry about applying in a sequential order, one can apply randomly,no restrictions in that case.

But you being a pre-final year student can not apply for CDSE.

Final year candidates are eligible for applying, but not pre-final year students.

So you wait to reach final year of engineering.

You can study the previous year question paper of CDSE ,to get all ideas regarding question paper and syllabus,

The previous year question paper are available in the website of UPSC.

    Hi
It is not at all necessary for anyone to give the CDS exam both the time.
It is just dependent on your choice that whether you want to take it or not.
Even if you attempt both the times, there wont be any problem in your selection procedure as you can attempt for this exam any number of time.
You just need to be in the age limit for giving this exam. The age limit is 19-24 years.
