You can go for BBA or BCA and after graduation you can apply for IAS exam.Or if you are not interested in these streams then you can go for B.Sc but it will be better if you go for above mentioned streams .

And once you done your graduation then you can eligible for IAS exam and you can apply for it at www.upsconline.nic.in after notification which is generally issued in January or Feburary and if you want to know more about the exam you can visit www.upsc.gov.in

    dear aspirant,

For the post of IAS you have to apply for Civil Services Exam that is conducted by UPSC every year.
As you said you have PCM in your 12th and i will advice you to go for B.Sc with Mathematics or you can also go for Engineering degree. Both are helpful for Civil Services Exam.

    Eligibility Criteria For Civil Services:

    >>you must have completed or appearing in final year of graduation.

    >>your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. there is relaxation in upper age limit up to 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

    Limit Number Of Attempts:

    >>General category: 4 attempts

    >>OBC category: 7 attempts

    >>SC/ST category: No Limit

Important dates of Civil Services exam in 2013:

    CSAT(Prelims):

    date of Notification:05.03.2013

last date of receipt of application:04.04.2013

    date of exam:26.05.2013

Dear when you have completed class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from CBSE - Central Board of Secondary Education then you need to choose a relevant course for your bachelor's also because if you choose relevant to 12th class then it will be helpful for you to qualify examination that is why you may go for any one of the following graduation courses

B.Sc in Mathematics with Physics and Chemistry as mandatory Subjects
B.Sc in Chemistry with Zoology as mandatory subject
B.Sc in Computer Science with Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics
Bachelor's of Engineering - Any Relevant Branch
Bachelor's of Technology - Any Relevant branch

When you go for graduation, then you should decide it before that what are the subjects in the graduation that are interesting for you means if you will be interested in any subject then you will definitely get good knowledge of that subject and that will be easy for you to study then choose the subjects otherwise you may change anyone subject in your graduation means having all subjects of class 12th is not compulsory

There are some optional subjects in IAS mains examination, and you may choose anyone from the list for mains exam. There will be two paper of that subject and each paper contains 250 marks so you need to choose a right subject :

    Agriculture
    Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    Anthropology
    Botany
    Chemistry
    Civil Engineering
    Commerce and Accountancy
    Economics
    Electrical Engineering
    Geography
    Geology
    History
    Law
    Management
    Mathematics
    Mechanical Engineering
    Medical Science
    Physics
    Philosophy
    Political Science and International Relations
    Psychology
    Public Administration
    Sociology
    Statistics
    Zoology

    - Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry is relevant to your stream so you may choose anyone and try to get good command over that subject before applying for civil service exam and you have two years to apply because final year pursuing candidates are also eligible to apply for this examination

Re: Which subject to choose in graduation in IAS exam point of view?

There are no strict rules that candidates should have some stream only in graduation to apply for IAS Exam.

Candidates who have completed Gradation with any of the stream are eligible to give this IAS Exam.

Sorry not IAS Exam, it is civil services exam.

your age to apply for this exam is

    21-30 years for General category
    21-33 years for OBC category
21-35 years for SC or ST category

So you can opt for any stream in Graduation.

    all the best.
