Choose some management subjects or arts subject so that you can prepare it within less time especially subjects like law/ Indian history/ geography etc,.

    Hey

If you have done graduation in engineering then you are eligible for the IAS exam.
You can choose any of the subject in which you are more interested.
If you have done graduation in engineering then fro my point of view the engineering subject will be more appropriate for you in the IAS exam.
Or you can choose any other exam in which you are more interested.
    Thank you.

    Dear Friend!

My suggestion is better to take the subjects related to your Engineering stream.
Out of two optional subjects you have to take another non - engineering subjects.

Be careful regarding selection of Optional subjects.
So, select optional subjects on your own interested and not depend on others opinion because your career is yours not others.

List of optional subjects available to choose for main examination of IAS and remember that you are allowed to choose only one subject out of all of the list

    >> Agriculture
    >> Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    >> Anthropology
    >> Botany
    >> Chemistry
    >> Civil Engineering
    >> Commerce and Accountancy
    >> Economics
    >> Electrical Engineering
    >> Geography
    >> Geology
    >> History
    >> Law
    >> Management
    >> Mathematics
    >> Mechanical Engineering
    >> Medical Science
    >> Philosophy
    >> Physics
    >> Political Science & International Relations
    >> Psychology
    >> Public Administration
    >> Sociology
    >> Statistics
    >> Zoology

This is the list of subjects and you are independent to select only one optional subject and as you have completed bachelor's degree in Aeronautical engineering then I request you to select your interesting subjects first and take at least 4 subjects from this list to lock only one finally then you should focus over engineering subjects because you are from engineering stream and I am sure that you are somewhere interested in engineering then collect the syllabus of all subjects that you have shortlisted and read that carefully

If you see that some subjects are easy to learn and you believe that you can pass and score good marks with that subject so you can choose that and do not hesitate to choose any subject because most of the IAS aspirants select arts stream subjects to study for main examination so there are various subjects - History, Geography, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology that can be useful for you to score good marks in main examination of IAS so use that trick then choose optional subject

Collect the complete syllabus for preliminary examination because passing in that is must then only you will be eligible to appear for main exam and take decision either you wants to prepare yourself for this exam or join any good reputed coaching institute that is affordable for you at every stage and start your preparation

According to my personal experience, most of the IAS aspirants and toppers who qualifies exam and get IAS rank after passing personal interview says that join good coaching center to get prepared and logically you can think that if you start preparation yourself and sometime you get problem in study then who will motivate you and guide you at that time so we have to see from every stage of the grounding and get prepared for test

Fix a time and schedule that you have to complete all the study of prelims examination before 8 months then you must have at least 3 months to get practiced for that examination and if there is no more time then do not hesitate to give more than 12 hours everyday for study and consistent study and schedule will help you in achieving new success in study so do not forget to be consistent over your preparation

Good books are always useful and basically provided by coaching institutes so you should get some top books of each subject to get in depth knowledge about topics asked in examination and be according to the instructions of coaching center

I have attached official recruitment notification for this exam please download and get more information

    All the best
