Friend, in order to crack the NDA Examination, you are required to make yourself aware of the nature, pattern & syllabus of the examination.Pattern of the written examination of the NDA Examination: # General Ability (600 Marks) # Mathematics (300 Marks)For General Ability section, you should prepare the NCERT BOOKS upto 10th standard of following books: * Geography * History * Economics * General Science * Indian PolityFor Mathematics section, you should prepare the mathematical problems upto 10th standards.
Dear Friend
The NDA examination examination pattern is as below:
The first stage of the examination consists of the questions from the mathematics of 300 marks and then the second paper is of general ability test which contains questions from the physics, chemistry, biology and general awareness .It is of also three marks
The second stage is the Service Selection Board. It is alone of three hundred marks.
So you cannot say that a particular subject is much more vital in comparison to others because each of the subject play a vital role in your selection.
UPSC sets its cut off marks for the first paper of maths and copies of general ability test is checked for that candidates who has qualified for the maths .
SO first you need to practice mathematics a lot and develop your short cuts as there is time limit in the examinations.
Accuracy is the key factor to acheive success.
You cannot ignore the other subjects also,so prepare all the subjects equally but a give greater emphasis on maths as it requires lots of practice .Solve Arihant maths books for the NDA examinations.
For general knowlegde ,Manorama will the best .
For science ,go through NCERT books of science from class eight to the twelve.
Hope the information helps as well as satisfies you .If you have any other query regarding this please leave it here .We will reply you as soon as possible .
All the best for you career.

Dear before thinking about any particular subject for any examination, you should verify the syllabus and read entire syllabus in which you will get subject details then you should choose your interesting subject means you should select that subject in which you are too strong and below I have mentioned examination pattern of UPSC National Defense Academy Examination 2013
Paper I - Mathematics - This will be first paper in NDA and it contains 300 marks and you will get all 2:30 hours to solve the complete paper of objective type questions and major topics are following which are covered in the mathematics section
1. Algebra
2. Matrices and Determinants
3. Trigonometry
4. Analytical Geometry or Two and Three Dimensions
5. Differential Calculus
6. Integral Calculus and Differential Equations
7. Victor Algebra
8. Statistics and Probability
Paper 2 : General Ability test : This paper contains 600 marks of all objective type questions and you will get the same time to solve this question too and there will be two different parts of this paper which are as :
Part A - English Language : 200 marks - Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.
Part B - General Knowledge : 400 marks - There will be following sections in this paper
Section A - Physics
Section B - Chemistry
Section C - General Science
Section D - History, Freedom Movement etc.
Section E - Geography
Section F - Current Events
So you have seen the complete syllabus with major topics and now you have to analyze in depth that which is the best and most interesting subject for you and you should also analyze that which subject you can study better than others and now you at the 9th standard means you have 3 year that is a long time to prepare for this examination and when you have made NDA as your target then why are you worrying about the subjects and concentration means in these 3 year you have to get good command at each and every single section and subject then only you will get qualified in NDA examination and will be eligible for personality test
Now if you think that you should concentrate only on one subject then I would like to suggest you that you should not because both of the papers are important to get qualified and you may also see that both papers has a huge syllabus and covering every single subject that you will study in your 11th and 12th class in mathematics stream so why are you being behind from study means you should not take your legs back from your target and just focus on your study for this exam and if you think that you should make any three or four subjects more strong then this may happen because covering every subject is not possible that is why you should choose any four from all subjects
If you think that you can do better in mathematics then you must choose this subject because it has separate 300 marks which deserves to make your qualified in exam then you need to select any three from physics, chemistry, general science, English language and History and Geography and in this selection, I would like to suggest you to choose History, Geography and English Language because these subjects will help you a lot in future for various competitive examination and also for your career in defense for various departmental examinations and if you think about physics and chemistry then you need to focus only on your 11th and 12th standard books of both of these subjects and you will cover more than 75% part of this examination of chemistry and physics and when you will already study for these subjects for exams then you will make it sure that you can do better in these subjects then what is left for you so just think about History, Geography and English Language and for this, you need to use various competitive exams books and make them strong
If possible then you should join any good coaching institute after completing 10th class and you will get 2 year preparation which is more than enough and in these two years you have to make your selection confirm for defense department and get the job just after 12th class and serve the best country in the world - India
If you get the job then you will get training for a year then you will get joining for service and if you think to make your career better then you should participate in various defense departmental examinations and also go for Combined Defense Service after completing graduation from a recognized university and become a good officer or major in defense sector
For more details and information you should keep visiting at www.upsc.gov.in
All the best
