Yes you can crack the examination with your own effort. Look see the subjects coming in upsc exam. First of all we have to start with upsc prelim exam. In Prelim examination you have to face two exams of 200 marks each. These question papers are of objective type. In this you have been asked for general knowledge and English questions.
For general knowledge you can read newspapers and its editorial pages by this you can know about current affairs and know about the view of different experts view for this which is very useful for general studies and further interview. In English you can go for comprehensive books. NCERT is the best book for it because all the question coming is of class 10 level.
In UPSC mains you have to choose the subjects. There are total 51 Optional Subjects in which 23 are from main subjects and 28 Language Subjects. But I suggest you to choose Arts Subjects like sociology, History etc. You can write easily and remember some important dates for it. You should also download and print old question papers from www.upsc.gov.in for see the exam pattern. Best of luck.

dear friend,
For the post of IPS officer UPSC conduct CS(Civil Services) Exam.
First of all i want to make you clear that for eligibility for CS exam you need to complete your graduation or you can also apply for CS exam while appearing in final year of graduation in any field. and your age must be within 21 years to 30 years.
For CS exam there is no consideration of Percentage. so do not need to worry about percentage. As you said now you are in 2nd year B.Tech ECE student and it is the right time to start preparation for UPSC CS exam.
Tips For Preparation:
1. Manage your time table.
2. Go throughout UPSC CS syllabus and start preparation according to Syllabus..
3. Read 6th to 12th NCERT books.
4. Improve your GK and English and try to read news papers and magazines.
5. Keep solving previous year question papers of CS exam.
you can download papers from following link:

Good Luck..........

Hi...friend
You had taken good decision about to be preparation of upsc exam
See one thing you must remember i.e.,
There is nothing to worry about your percentage of maks
because uspc needs only graduation with any percentage of marks
If you do work hard some more time then it is easy to balance both
at the same time
How means daily you have to study the syllabus of upsc 1 to 2 hours
Now onwards if you do like this ...it will be very very useful when the time
of
your attending upsc exams
But do not neglect your academic syllabus its also very important
If you all clear subjects then you are said to be graduate otherwise
there is no use for your preparation
Any way good luck....
