    List of optional subjects for IFS exam:
    i) Agriculture
    ii)Agricultural Engineering
    iii)Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    iv)Botany
    v)Chemistry
    vi) Chemical Engineering
    vii) Civil Engineering
    viii) Forestry
    ix)Geology
    x)Mathematics
    xi)Mechanical Engineering
    xii) Physics
    xiii) Statistics
    xiv) Zoology
    candidates have to choose an option among the list of available optionals as mentioned above. It will be wise to take one option related to your graduation.
    THe question paper and syllabus for arts subjects is similar to that of Honors degree level. So if you choose your graduation subject then you can easily cover the syllabus. My opinion is to choose another arts subject itself.
    We can give you only suggestions. But its you who is going to study. So think carefully and take a good decision.
    ALL THE BEST
    For second option,
    choose a subject which you are interested in. you cannot choose Engineering subjects because the syllabus is lengthy and it will be purely technical, without prior expertise you cannot study engineering subject.

    Hello there,

    >> The list of optional subjects, arranged alphabetically, which are offered by the UPSC for the Indian Forest Service examinations are stated below ::

    // Agriculture
    // Agricultural Engineering
    // Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science
    // Botany
    // Chemistry
    // Chemical Engineering
    // Civil Engineering
    // Forestry
    // Geology
    // Mathematics
    // Mechanical Engineering
    // Physics
    // Statistics
    // Zoology

    >> Take note that all the subjects mentioned above are the Science subjects.
    >> Hence, in order to crack this examination you must be cover a good breadth of scientific knowledge.
    >> Also to take care, that the questions asked of the two subjects you opt from here will be based on graduation level.
    >> Therefore, you will have to work very hard.

    >> I would personally recommend you to have the same subjects that you have studied while in Graduation.
    >>
    One must be your Honours paper, i.e. the Major subject to be more precise, and the other may be your subsidiary papers, which you have had studied alongside, even though for a short while.

    all the best.
