Never Worry... First of all you have to familiar with Question Pattern for the examination. You should download and print Previous Years Question Papers from www.upsc.gov.in
Model Test Papers are also so important to you. Practice more and more model test papers you can fully experience with Question Pattern.
First you have to choose the SUBJECTS for the examination.
Taking Arts Subjects you can crack exam easily than science and commerce subjects.
History, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Philosophy are the good subjects for you.
If you have good writing skills you can success in Sociology History like subjects.
After that its your efforts to crack the examination. Sample papers are necessary and if you want then you can also get some coaching class study materials.
NCERT books are best for basic knowledge. Go through it.

there is no short cut rule to go through any competitive exam..
unless you can not give your full effort to any work,you can'nt come up with this..
you should know problems based questions,should be aware of day to day news updates( economics,rights, etc),should be good in vocabulary,good in general knowledge
to score good marks then you should complete the upcoming syllabus ,should practice previous year questions papers as many as possible
in case of negative marks,if you do not the answer better not to attempt the question as it had deduction to wrong question
