no sir there is no change in the upsc main exam.
there is changes in the preliminary exam. the choice of your subject is change. now both of paper the general study ,
best of luck for the exam.
still you have to wait for some official notification by uPSC for the examination changes, so better to include such subjects in mains which you have generally studied to prpepare for prelim's which generally carries more then 50 % part by such subjects which are history, geography, public administration, sociology, political science so my better advice is that you should have to choose among these.
because these consist a major part of prelim's which is recently are of changed pattern, so if even pattern changes for mains it will somewhat revolves around the same pattern .consequently you are prepared for it so it will not much affect your preparation.
No there are no such advertisement by UPSC till now ,it is just rumour .
If the pattern will be changed then UPSC will annouce the new pattern before the publishing of the advertisement .
so you prepare according to recent pattern and wait for the announcement if the pattern changes .
There is no such official notification about any changes in the question pattern. Also if it changes it will more or less will be the same. For updated notification keep visiting www.upsc.gov.in.
All the best!
Dear Applicant,
-As of now, there has been no such official announcement with regards to change in pattern of the Mains exams of The Civil Services conducted by the UPSC.
-However,talks of changes are doing the rounds and possibility of changes are not ruled out.But it will take its time to happen, and it will not happen in 2013 at least.
-The expected change will most probably put to rest the pattern of two optional papers. It is done to give equal importance to all the subjects.Hence,to prepare for the changing pattern, you will have to stop avoiding any subject, and provide equal importance to all.
-However,I will recommend you to prepare for the 2013 Civil Service exams,by the similar pattern,as until now.Choose the two optional subjects, preferably the ARTS subjects,as they are scoring, and start preparing for them.
-Improve your writing skills and solve a lot of model papers.
-For further relevance and notifications of changes,do refer the official website of the UPSC-www.upsc.gov.in
