HEY! first of all you have to be very much clear about general knowledge and current affairs. Just go through the maths part till 10th std. there are 2 exams in civil services 1st is prelims and mains. In prelims you have to choose the subjects and plus g.k,current affairs,general english(essay type) and Indian languages,these are compulsory. For the syllabus you have first decide the subjects which you want to take and then prepare. You can also get online prevoius year quest papers and that will be useful.

hello friend,dnt worry abt the syllubus u just read manorama 2012 book and the previous history and the things which are going on and the english grammar is the most the main thing is history and goegraphy and related to that subjects is most.......if i gt good book i wil rely u sn ok,all the best!!!!!!!!!!
questions asked in preliminary will be related to general studies.that is u can refer textbooks of 6th to 10th ssc ,cbsc and ncrt books and material is also available in market .and for current affaairs and general knowledge ull get material and follow daily news paper .
There are two papers of 200 marks each.The duration of each paper is two hours.The questions are set in English and Hindi.However,the passage for English language comprehension will have no Hindi translation.
There will be penalty in the form of negative marks for wrong answers.For each wrong answer one-third of the mark assigned will be deducted.However, there is no penalty for not answering a question.
CSAT SYLLABUS:
Paper 1:

Then if you clear CSAT then you will be writing the mains where you have to opt 2 optional subjects.It is not a necessary that you choose only that sublect which you have studied in college.
QUESTION PATTERN FOR CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION:-
1)PRELIMINARY EXAM
2)WRITTEN EXAM
3)INTERVIEW
This exam is carried out by the UPSC will have a written exam which includes questions at Graduate level.
--The civil Service exam will have a Preliminary Examination for the selection of candidates.
It is further divided into two papers. The duration of each paper is 120 minutes.The syllabus of the Preliminary will be from the graduation level syllabus.
It will be mostly objective type question.
The syllabus will include GK and awareness, English, quantitative, analysis aptitude etc.
--The candidates who have cleared the preliminary exam are only allowed to appear for the Main Examination.
In the written test candidates have to attend 9 papers. The duration of each paper is 180 minutes.
--After qualifying the Main exam candidates will also have to go through the Interview process.

The portions for the preliminary Exam paper one are:-

Indian polity and government,
economics etc.

Comprehension,

its not a very tough exam all you need is to prepare well whatever you study,questions are asked from history of india,and english of 10th level,general knowledge should be well,problem solving capability and reasoning questions.so its not so hard to prepare just prepare well good luck.
