See,though IES and IPS both come under UPSC,but they are two different exams with different syllabus.
IES syllabus is completely different from that of IPS exam.
Hence you need to take separate coaching for each of the exam.
In IPS,you have General studies along with a number of languages.
On the other hand,in IES there are questions that are asked from the branch of Engineering such as Civil Engg.,Electrical Engg. etc.
Hence you need to prepare for it in a different way altogether!
For that you need to join different coaching program mes!

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service Examination and this examination is conducted by Union Public Service Commission .
To apply for this Examination you should Complete Bachelor of Engineering / Technology Course from recognized University .
The Applicant Qualified in any one of the Specialization like, Civil Engineering /Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering /Electronics and
Telecommunication Engineering .
There is No Minimum Percentage of marks require for this Examination .
Applicant age must be 21 year to 30 years and relaxation will applicable for the candidate who belong from sc/st candidates .
The Selection Procedure for this Written Examination / Personal Interview .
IPS - Indian Police Service post
There is a fixed eligibility criteria which is decided by UPSC board and if you contains those eligibility then you can apply for UPSC -:
Educational Qualification : If you have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university with at least 50% marks or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized university then you are eligible according to educational qualification.
Age Limit : If your age is between 21-30 years then you are eligible in age and if you belongs to reserved category then you may get upper age relaxation in age as per government standards which would be about 5 years for SC/STs and 3 years for OBC category candidates.
Physical Standards :
Height - Male - 165 cm for general candidates and 160 for reserved category candidates
Height - Female - 150 cm and 145 for reserved category candidates
Chest - Male - Minimum 84 cm and expansion of minimum 5 cm
Chest Female - Minimum 79 cm and expansion of minimum 5 cm
Eye Sight : 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye and 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision for worst eye and near vision j1 for good eye and j2 for worst eye
Ladies should not be pregnant during the medical and physical standards test
Nasal : Candidate should not stammer while speaking
So Finally if you have above mentioned qualification then you can apply for this exam.

IPS and IES are totally different fields.
you have to take separate coaching for IPS and IES.
IPS stands for Indian Police Services. which you can get through UPSC Civil Services exam.
where IES stands for Indian Economics Services/Indian engineering Services.
both IES and IPS has different Syllabus.
both IES and IPS has different pattern.
