As you know that UPSC civil services examination selection process consist;-Preliminary exam,Mains exam and Interview.

Salient Features of UPSC civil services 2013;-

-----Civil services preliminary exam is hed on 26th may 2013.

----Preliminary exam pattern is same as previous.Mains exam pattern has changed from this year.

----The number of vacancies which will be filled is expected about 1000.

-----THE TOTAL NUMBER OF candidates will be about 12th times/13th times of the expected number of Vacancies.

----The Mains exam is conducted on 1st Dec,2013.

Change Pattern;-

General studies Previous marks is 600 but now General studies papers will be 1000 marks.

Essay Previous marks is 200 and now it is same 200 marks in 2013.

Optional subjects papers consist 500 marks Instead of 600 marks from this year.

Compulsory English Language consist 100 marks as Qualifying marks from this year.

Personality test consist now 275 marks instead of 300 marks.
