Selection Process in UPSC Civil Service Examination
Preliminary Examination - This is the first screening test conducted by the board and contains two different objective type papers for 200 marks each and papers are - General Studies and CSAT where passing in this test is mandatory to be eligible for further process
Main Examination - All qualified candidates of preliminary examination will be eligible to apply for this test and this section contains following papers :
Paper I - Section I - Essay for 200 marks and Section II English Language and Comprehension for 100 marks
Paper II, III, IV and V - General Studies - 250 marks each
Paper VI and VII - Optional subject papers I and II - 250 marks each
Passing in all papers is compulsory and all papers will be set and conventional type pattern
Personality Test : 275 marks and only those candidates will be eligible for this process who pass main examination and this will be the final stage of selection in that you will have to face interview process and this is the process in which you will be tested by the panel of experts who will be there for your test so you should be prepared well before appearing for this test because interview process of civil service examination is considered as the toughest part of this process
You will be asked various type of questions in this stage i.e. - Personal Introduction, Background of entire family, profession, working experience, previous job details, educational qualification, detailed information about the subjects that you have studied in degree or PG level, information about your personal interests, complete knowledge about the town/ city/ state where you live as History and Geography etc. so you have to prepare for each question and increase your logical and smart thinking so you could qualify in examination
