    Hi Aspirant,

    The process and exam pattern of Civil Service exam is same for engineer and doctors even every graduates.

    The difference can be made in the selection of Optional subject. As usual a engineer will choose the optional subject related to engineering and a doctor will choose the optional subject related to medical stream.

    Rest of the syllabus is same. Here I will explain complete information related to Civil Service exam.

    Civil Service Exam is organized by UPSC for the most reputed and prestigious post IAS, IPS or IRS. These are the top level post of India.

    Any candidates who have completed their graduation in any subject can apply for civil service exam.

    The age limit for CS exam decided by UPSC is 21 to 30 years.


    Exam pattern and Syllabus for Civil Service exam

    CS exam is accomplished in three stages

    Preliminary exam

    Interview (300 marks)

    After obtaining qualifying marks in written exam candidates are called for the Interview.


    There are two papers in preliminary exam which are same for every application but in mains exam candidates have to choose two optional subject and rest of the paper are same for each.


    Attempts for civil service exam

    4 attempts for General candidates

    7 attempts for OBC candidates

    No limit for SC/ST


    Candidates can apply for Civil service exam through Online and Offline application process.

    The notification for civil service exam will be updated at UPSC official website on 2/2/2012 and last date of application is 4/3/2012.
