If you want to know about pattern of Civil Service exam then before proceed for syllabus and pattern you should have full knowledge about Union Public service Commission examination .
This exam which is conducted by UPSC and GOVERNMENT services such as IES,IAS and IFS.

The pattern of civil service examination is divided into following subjects are :
i) English
ii) General Studies
iii) General Mathematics
iv) Any Indian Language (Hindi ,Punjabi)
v) Computer

Civil services examination is conducted by UPSC.
IAS, IPS, IFS etc under comes under this examination. Selection in all these fields is done on the basis of Civil Services Examination.
Civil services exam takes place in 2 stages:
1. Written Exam
2. Interview
1. written Exam is further divided in 2 stages:
i. Preliminary or Civil services Aptitude test
This contains 2 papers:
a. General Studies
b. General Aptitude Test
Both papers are of objective type.
ii. Mains examination
This is subjective test.
After you qualify in both prelims & mains exam you are called for Interview.

For this examination candidate must be graduate.
Age should be between 21-30 years
Examination consist of Two parts.
Part-I (Preliminary Examination)
It consist of two paper each of 200 marks
Paper-I total marks 200 time 2 hours
Paper-II In this Paper candidate has choose optional subject
Part-II: Main Examination total marks 2300
Main Examination consists of Written test and Interview.
Interview total marks 300

First of all I would like to inform you that civil services examination is conducted by UPSC.Bachelor's degree is minimum academic requirement for it.The age limit is between 21-30 years .Upper age is relaxed for obc and sc/st respectively.
Civil services examination is conducted in three stages.The examination pattern for all stages are as:
1.CSAT:Preliminary test
2.Main examination
3.Personal interview.
