    Dear Friend

IES stands for the Indian Engineering services or simply called Engineering services examination.UPSC conducts this exam every year .

If you have the bachelor's degree in the engineering /technology from a university that is recognized by University Grants Commission or some of the recognized institutes then you are eligible for the exam.

You age should be in the range of the 21-30 years .If belong to the OBC or SC/ST ,you will be given age relaxation of three years and five years respectively. You must be an Indian citizen in order to apply for the exam.

For general candidates there are only four attempts whereas for the obc there is seven attempts and for the SC/ST candidates there is no restriction on no of attempts.

Pattern for the IES [electrical stream ]is as below:

    Section I:

    Objective papers

1.General ability test which contains general studies and english .Duration is two hours and total marks is also 200.

    2.Electrical Engineering Paper I: 200 marks

    3.Electrical Engineering Paper II:200 marks

    Section II:

    Subjective papers :{conventional papers]

    Electrical Engineering paper I:200 marks

    Electrical Engineering paper II:200 marks

Both of these papers of duration three hours each.

You can prepare for the exam by yourself by doing self study or joining some of the best institute like MADE Easy ,Engineers institute of India etc.

Build up strong concepts along with practice on objective questions.Listen newschannel, red newspapers ,magazines for better command over general studies.Go through the previous year paper
