Newspapers are important source for the preparartion for the civil services exam.so it should be read daily and notes have to be made out of it daily.

consistency should be made in reading the newspapers.If you keep backlogs then it will be difficult to cover the backlogs later.so finish reading as soon as possible.may be you can collect one weeks newspaper and read on one day but dont accumulate more newspapers for reading at once.

In newspapers you should read only relevant articles and skip the rest.dont waste time in reading unwanted news items.it will waste your precious time.

you have to focus mainly on the first page,editorial page,economy,international and important national issues.rest you can have a glance.

try making notes while reading newspaper and compile them properly in a file.

in sports section just look for personalities and tournament names.

This is the effective way for preparing newspaper part effectively.

It is good that you are quite serious for the preparation of civil exam

In prelims exam you will have to do broad study of GS and English.

AS you know that GS has no end. It is unfathomable.

So you should read newspaper properly.

You should mark the important lines in newspaper and make there notes.

These notes will be helpful to revise the data.

You should read minimum 2 newspapers daily, one is national level and second is International level.

So that you could keep yourself update from all national and International current affairs.

Listen English news and note the important points.

You should use reference books for the preparation of General studies and General English.

You should also practice of previous year question paper.

Practice of previous year question paper will be helpful for you to understand exam pattern and your weak point.

Ways of Newspaper Reading for Civil Services Exams :

-Select atleast TWO good newspapers for reading like The Hindu,The Times of India,etc.

-You must read the first page of the newspapers daily if you have less time.

-Allot time for daily newspaper reading like 2hrs and try to cover all the matter you have
to go through and make notes for later revision.

-To reduce wastage of time flick through all the pages and keep marking the important topics
by bold headlines of the articles and then read only those articles.

-Read articles of only good authors,be selective in your reading.Make a list of good authors and follow their articles.

-Now-a-days focus of G.K. in competitive exams is CURRENT AFFAIRS so you should be aware of it.
