the process of becoming the IES officer comprises three stages
1.prelimns
2.mains
3.interview
you are eligible of giving the exam if you having a degree In the following streams of engineering
electrical engineering
mechanical engineering
electronics and communication engineering
civil engineering
your age should be in between 21-30 years. A relaxation of 3 years and 5 years is given to the obc and sc/st students respectively.

Then after you have to fight a entrance exam.
After this you will go in interview sec. there you will selected .
And it is not so easy as u wish.

UPSC conducts the exam for IES every year.If you have an engineering degree from Civil,Mechanical,Electrical or Electronics engineering,then you will be eligible to apply.You need to be within 21-30years age limit for general category.There will be a 3day written test which will have General studies on 1st day,Engg paper objective on 2nd day in 2 parts,Engg paper Subjective paper 2 parts in 3rd day.Your subsequent papers will be corrected only if you qualify in the previous papers.After qualifying in the written test you will be called for interview and then based on your total marks,you will be selected.Each paper and interview has 200marks so your marks will be counted out of 1200.

IES Stand for Indian Engineering Service Exam this exam is conducted by Union Public Service commission and this exam is conducted by every year. And This exam have a Four Categories there are .

>> Civil Engineering
>> Mechanical Engineering
>> Electrical Engineering
>> Electric and Telecommunication Engineering

If you have any one of the Category to studied in your degree you can surely apply for this examination other wise you can't apply this examination.

Eligibility Criteria's:-

>> The Candidate should be Citizen of India or a subject of Bhutan or Nepal.

>>The Candidate should be complete the above category Engineering Degree in recognized university and final year candidates also eligible for this examination.

At first you have to online registration of Preliminary exam. This exam consist objective papers of General studies and General knowledge and your optional subject papers.

it consists of three exams

The selection process of candidates who appear for the Engineering Services Examination conducted by the UPSC, India is based on the two levels.
Written Test
Personality Test
Those who successfully qualify in the written examination are called for the Personality test, which is a Personal Interview kind of test. The total marks for the Personality test is 200 Marks.

> a subject of Bhutan

2] The age limit of the candidate must be between 21 to 30 years.
There is also a age relaxation provided to SC/ ST/ OBC category candidate as per government rule.

Age relaxation ;-

For SC/ ST :- 21 to 35 years

for OBC :- 21 to 33 years

3] The candidate must be completed his/ her graduation in Engineering degree from any recognized university.

4] the candidate who is appearing in final year can apply for IES exam.
