Dear you have took a very good decision at right time when you are in the first year and at the stage of study for any examination and you should not worry about your aim because when you have decided it then you will definitely get it one day but dear it demands hard and harder practice everyday for each and every single section because the every part of the syllabus is necessary to crack the examination but for that you need to complete your graduation first but final year pursuing candidates are also eligible to apply for this examination so that you would wait for 2 years more after your first year then you would be eligible to apply for this examination and till that time you need to join any good coaching institute and prepare for IAS examination with hard study and complete your whole syllabus and prepare according to the new pattern but you should join the coaching from starting means do not try to study yourself for any section of this examination because when you will go to the coaching institute then you will get different types of study materials and strategy to crack the examination so that you have to follow them to crack the examination
All the best
Hi dear
First of all remember that your dream of becoming an IAS officer is possible;
many pepole like you and me qualify UPSC civil services exam every year.
Now as you have just started your engineering studies you have enough time for preparation of the civil services exam.
So, you should use this time wisely.
You should talk to successfull candidates of this exam and plan strategy for yourself.
you should disscuss with them and decide your subjects for the exam.
you can also take help from coaching institutions regarding strategy.
After you have decided the subjects and framed your strategy; start your study for the exam..
Good luck.....
