Detailed Syllabus for UPSC Indian Civil Service Examination - Preliminary
It has two papers that are conducted only in objective type pattern and syllabus for each paper is following
Paper I - General Studies - 200 marks - 2 hours
Current Events of National and International Importance
History of India and Indian National Movement
Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of India and World
Indian Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights, Issues etc.
Economic and Social Development, Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives etc.
General Issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-Diversity and Climate Change
General Science and Technology
Paper II - CSAT - Civil Service Aptitude Test - 200 marks - 2 Hours
Comprehension
Interpersonal Skills including Communication Skills
Logical Reasoning and Analytical Ability
Decision Making and Problem Solving
General and Mental Ability
Basic Numeracy - Data Interpretation - Charts, Graphs, Tables, Data Sufficiency, numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc. - Class X Level
English Language and Comprehension Skills
Mains Examination Papers :
Paper I - Essay 200 marks and English Language - 100 marks
Paper II, III, IV and V will be based on General Studies - 250 marks each
Paper VI and VII - Will be based on selected optional subject - 250 marks each
