    NO Dear

    there is no same syllabus for both preliminary and the mains exam.

    in the preliminary exam the two paper include--both of the general study.

    in the general study exam following subject/topic covered

    1. History
    2. Political Science
    3. Ciivs
    4. Current Affairs
    5. Numerical apptitude
    6. Reasoning
    7. Social SCience
    8. General Science
    9. Geography
    10.international current affairs
    11.Indian Econmy
    12.Arts and culture etc
    number of the topic is covered.

    in the mains exam:-

    again general study paper
    comprehensive English paper
    one language paper
    two optional subject-4 paper

    Hi,

    the answer is NO. there is separate syllabus for mains and prelims.

    PRELIMS SYLLABUS:

    Paper I - (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
    Current events of national and international importance
    History of India and Indian National Movement
    Indian and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic geography of India and the World.
    Indian Polity and Governance � Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Public Policy, Rights Issues, etc.
    Economic and Social Development � Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.
    General issues on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialization
    General Science.

    Paper II- (200 marks) Duration: Two hours
    Comprehension
    Interpersonal skills including communication skills;
    Logical reasoning and analytical ability
    Decision making and problem solving
    General mental ability
    Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude etc.) (Class X level)
    Data interpretation (charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc. -Class X level)
    English Language Comprehension skills (Class X level).

    Note -
    Questions relating to English Language Comprehension skills of Class X level (last item in the Syllabus of Paper-II) will be tested through passages from English language only without providing Hindi translation thereof in the question paper.
    The questions will be of multiple choice, objective type.

    MAINS :

    you have to appear in 9 papers to qualify mains.

    general studies-2 papers
    optional subjest-I(2 papers)
    optional subject-II(2 papers)
    essay
    language paper
    english paper
