If you have Graduation degree in Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology then you can appear in the exam of IFS.
You have to face 6 papers in written examination. 1st paper is of General English of 300 marks. The 2nd paper is G.K. paper of 300 marks. Paper 3 to 6 are the optional subjects which you have to choose from the list.

Indian Foreign Service Exam :
This exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
And it consists of two stages i.e Preliminary and Main Exam.
The Preliminary Examination is held in May/June and the Main Examination in October/November.
Exam Pattern :
Preliminary Examination : It is of objective type examination.
Main Examination: It consists of written examination and interview.
The first stage, the Civil Services Prelims is composed of two objective exams.
One of General studies and one of a subject of your choice among a given list of subjects.
There are two papers of General Studies, Optional 1 and Optional 2 each of 300 marks and one Essay paper of 200 marks.
The exam is for a total of 2000 marks.
