For the civil service exam the qualification is required candidate must have graduate in any stream from the approved university. The higher qualification and the percentage of the marks in the graduation is no matter for the exam. you have the master degree in the social work then it is beneficial for you, you took the sociology subject in the mains subject.
The age limit for the exam is the 21 to 30 years
The age relaxation for the reserved category, three years for the obc category and five years for the sc/st category.
The exam notification is declared by the upsc in the month of the february-2013

remember that UPSC is not a single exam. It is a body which conduct various exams for various government posts.So first of select the exam for which you want to apply and then check your eligibility for the exam. then start preparation for the exam.

Always keep two things in mind-
1) Hard work is the only ladder to success
2) Practice makes a man perfect
Hence you have the fire in you to get into UPSC,then no on can stop you!

citizenship.Your age limit should be 21 to 30 years and get a relaxation for

I think you want to know abut civil services exam detail.Civil services exam is conducted by UPSC once in every year.
there are three stage of exam
prelim exam
main exam
interview
prelim exam are the basic exam which is held in the month of may in every year.
mains exam are the exam on 2nd stage only those candidate can give this exam who clear prelim exam in that year.
next and last stage is interview stage. for interview only those candidate are eligible who clear the above two stage in that year.
