Am I eligible to appear in CDS exam having defective eyesight (-4.5 : Left eye, -5.5 : Right eye)?

my left eye power is -4.5 and right eye power is -5.5 .am i eligible to appear for cds exams?

if with spects the vision of both of your eyes is 6/6 then you are eligible for indian army, so you can apply for cds exam.

The eyesight limit is (+/-) 3 for both eyes.
Since your eyesight is not within than limit you are not eligible.

Your eyesight is too low for Army,Air force or Navy standard.The myopia limits for Army is 3.5D i.e. -3.5 and for Navy it is -1.5.For Airforce the accepted Myopia level is NIL.So unfortunately you will not be eligible in the Physical standards for CDSE even if you achieve outstanding result in the written exam.Even Radial keratotomy is not accepted and such candidates are rejected.You can try for other fields than in Defence services which accepts myopic eye without any hussle.

Friend, it is reqired that candidate willing to join the Indian defence forces must have high degree of physical fitness level. There is no any relaxation or dilution in the required parameters for physical fitness for any candidate/category under any circumstances. Candidate must be physically, medically and biologically fit in all respect. The eyes, ear, nose, heart, kidney & other vital organs of the body must have normal functioning.As far as eye sight is concerned, required eye sight is mentioned below: # 6/6 for better eye # 6/9 for worst eyeIf eye sight of the candidate exceeding this limits are not considered fit for joining the defence forces. As a general rule, +3.0 or -3.0 of eye sight is permissible for joining defence forces. But above the above mentioned limits in defects of vision are not eligible for Indian defence forces.
