    Hello Sir,
My name is Ram, i am doing job in private sector...
i have started preparing for IES exam........but worried about my left eye....i cant see from my left eye......right eye sight is ok
4 yr back i have gone through eye surgery but even after the fitment of lens in my left eye i can't see....( 30% blindness ..may be not sure)

i have checked the UPSC gazette for disability ....from which i found that i am not coming under reservation quota for disability ( for upsc reservation quota more than 40% disability is required)

If a person has one eye in normal vision and the other eye has sub normal vision, then the combined effect of both is that he does not have stereoscopic vision for perception of depth. Such persons are not fit for technical services that come under IES.
    THe technical services include
    1) Railway Engineering service ( civil, mechanical and signal)
    2) Indian defense service of ENgineers
    3) Military Engineering service etc
However you are eligible for non-technical posts like Indian naval stores service, Indian railway stores service etc
provided you have the following vision requirements for normal eye
1)has full field of normal vision
    2) distant vision 6/6 with or without glasses
near vision J/I with or without glasses
    3) full colour perception in normal eye
Thus, you are eligible to apply for IES. However you will be alloted only non-technical posts
