i want to know that, can i apply for upsc exam after completing my b.tech in textiles.

Sorry you are not eligible for IES because only EC, EE, MECH, CIVIL branches of engineering are eligible for IES. But you can apply for other UPSC exams.

-Sorry,but you are not eligible to apply for the Indian Engineering Service exams conducted by the UPSC.
-This examination is has a specific criteria that the candidates under a limited group of BTech stream can only apply for these.The BTech streams,namely are :
# Electrical Engineering.
# Mechanical Engineering.
# Civil Engineering.
# Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering.
-Thereby,not being a holder in any of these,you are not eligible to apply for the IES Exams.
-But you can do apply for the UPSC Civil Service Exams,where all Graduation orequivalent degrees are considered.

THIS EXAM IS CONDUCTED BY U.P.S.C.
As you are an engineering graduate , you can apply for I.E.S. Examination.
But you can not apply with your own stream.
You have to choose any one stream out of four streams which are mentioned below.

Eligibility criteria for I.E.S. exam:-

Educational Qualification:-
-- The candidates who have completed their graduation from engineering can apply for the exam.
-- This exam is conducted to recruit candidates in streams like

- Civil Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.

As you are from Textiles stream you have to choose any one stream from the four above streams to apply in I.E.S. exam.
The question will be asked to you from your chosen stream.

-- Final year candidates are also eligible to apply.
-- Candidate must not have any pending backlogs.

Citizenship:-
-- Candidate must be Indian citizen.
-- Candidates of Nepal , Bhutan or Tibetan who have come to India prior to January 1st 1962 & staying in India permanently can also apply.

Age limit:-
-- The age of the candidate should not be less than 21 years & not more than 30 years.
-- Upper age relaxation is given to lower caste candidates.
-- For SC/ST age limit:- 21-35 years, For O.B.C.:- 21-33 years

Number of attempts:-
--Four attempts for general category.
--Seven attempts for O.B.C. candidates .
--Unlimited attempts for SC/ST candidates.

As you are text tile engineer you can not eligible for the exam because in IES exam one should graduate in following one of the branch :
Civil engineering , mechanical engineering , /electrical engineering and Ec engineering .
so that you are not eligible for the exam but you can go for the UPSC exam which require only graduation instead of IES exam . All the Best

After completed the B.tech textile you cannot apply in IES exam because IES exam is mainly for for those candidates who have completed engineering with any four stream such as electronics,mechanical ,civil and electrical engineering.
But you can apply in IAS exam .IAS means Indian Administration Services.This exam candidates must have any degree from a recognized university.IES and IAS exam age both are same.General candidates age must be between 21 to 30 and for OBC candidates age must be between 21 to33 years and sc/st age must be between 21 to 35 years.This exam is only for Indian citizen.

sorry to say but you are not eligible for UPSC IES EXAM because as you told that your passed b.tech in textiles BUT for IES exam you should have to passed B.TECH in CIVIL ENGINEERING, MECHANICAL ENGINEERING, ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING .

so you can,t apply this exam .


but you can apply for other exams likes..........

YES YOU ARE ELIGIBLE FOR APPLYING IN THE INDIAN ENGINEERING SERVICES.

There is a very strange theory regarding the applicants who are applicable for the IES.First of all i must say to you that as you have a B.TECH OR B.E degree you are applicable for IES.But there are only four subjects that is or precisely only four streams in which you can apply for the IES
~MECHANICAL
~CIVIL
~ELECTRICAL
~ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATION

Now you being a textile engineer can apply for IES but under the above four mentioned streams or category,means there is no category for textile and if you want to apply you will have to apply under the four category.

The rigorous four years that you had while studying textile engineering will be of no use as you will have to study a completely different subject to apply for IES.
Strange theory ,it is strange for every body,really these kind of strategies are hard to understand.But whatever might be the case you being a textile engineer can apply only under the above four mentioned category,other wise you would give up your dream of applying in the IES.
