All the best................................
for the post of IPS officer you have to write Civil Services exam that is conducted by UPSC every year. as you have completed Engineering degree now you are eligible to apply for Civil Services exam.
for Civil Services exam your age must be within 21 years to 30 years. and there is relaxation in upper age limit upto 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Civil Services exam is conducted in three phases and you are required to clear all the phases:
1. Prelims(CSAT)
2. Mains
3. Interview
According to new pattern for Civil Services now there is no optional subject in prelims and you have to only select one optional subject for mains instead of two. now General studies given more importance both in Prelims and Mains. The optional subject which will you select comprises of two papers named Paper-I and Paper-II which is 250 marks each.
List Of Optional Subjects in mains:
(i) Agriculture
(ii) Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
(iii) Anthropology
(iv) Botany
(v) Chemistry
(vi) Civil Engineering
(vii) Commerce and Accountancy
(viii) Economics
(ix) Electrical Engineering
(x) Geography
(xi) Geology
(xii) History
(xiii) Law
(xiv) Management
(xv) Mathematics
(xvi) Mechanical Engineering
(xvii) Medical Science
(xviii) Philosophy
(xix) Physics
(xx) Political Science and International Relations
(xxi) Psychology
(xxii) Public Administration
(xxiii) Sociology
(xxiv) Statistics
(xxv) Zoology
you have to select any one subject from these subjects as your optional subject. as you can see there is no subject related to computer science and Engineering in optional subjects. So according to me you must choose Mathematics as your optional subject. because you have studied Mathematics in your entire education carrier. which will help you at the time of preparation and crack the exam. if you want to choose any other subject as your optional subject then you can choose and it does not matter that you have studied this subject in your carrier or not.
Good Luck.........
