This is sorry to inform you that candidates from the automobile engineering are not eligible in giving the IES exam.
The reason behind this is that there are only 4 branches of engineering which are eligible of giving the IES exam
Civil engineering
Mechanical engineering
Electrical engineering
Electronics and communication engineering
Yes you can apply for IES as graduates in engineering from recognized university can apply for the exam..
yes but you need to choose any one of the subjects;- civil engineering,electrical engineering,mechanical engineering or electronics and telecommunication engineering

Good to see your interest towards the Indian engineering services being an automobile engineer.
Friend to be very frank ,any engineering aspirant of any stream from a recognized university is applicable for the IES exam .If you are in final year of automobile engineering then also you can give the exam.
But dear you will have to select the subjects for your conventional papers from the four given branches only:
1.Electrical engineering
2.Mechanical engineering
3.Electronics and communication engineering
4.Civil engineering.
Now it depends upon your interest that among these four ,which branch you choose for your conventional papers.You will have work as the subjects which you studied in automobile will not be there.
Do not worry ,strong determination and full concentration towards studies can give you the success.

The age limit for the exam is 21-30 years for the general category and upper age relaxed upto three years for the OBC and five years for the SC/St respectively.
You must be an Indian citizen.
For general there are four attempts only,for obc is seven and for the SC/ST is no limit.

If you want to apply for Indian Engineering Service examination then you must have passed a bachelor's degree in engineering in any one of the following disciplines from a recognized university
Civil Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
or must have passed graduate membership of the institute of electronics and telecommunication of India
Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates
You can not apply for this examination because you have completed your bachelor's of engineering degree in automobile specialization but you can apply for other UPSC exams as civil service, defense service, forest service etc. and make your career better in this field

No, the automobile Engineering candidates can't apply for the IES. Because the following qualification candidates are only eligible for IES.
1-Mechanical Engineering
2- Civil Engineering
3- Electrical Engineering

IES Stands for Indian Engineering Service Examination and this examination is conducted by UPSC Once in a year . This year notification was already released and it is available in the official website of UPSC as well as employment news paper .
