You can choose any of the subjects as an optional subject selected from the list that show it, so it all depends on you that which subjects are very easier for you to qualify the examination because no one else will know better than you that which subjects you need to choose as an optional.
So never ask from others that which are athe subjects to apply.
Because some of the people say that it is good and when you go for the examination and after you will be struggling to write for that subject, so it will be good to take that subject that you have good knowledge because if you are not having the knowledge then you will not have the points to discuss the same.
If you are deciding the subjects on your own then you will not blame others for that so it will be better for you to just select the subjects according to your ability because others will not give the paper for you.

Friend, of course, you are free to choose any optional subject. There is no any restriction over choosen of optional subjects. Candidate can choose any optional subject whether optional subject is studied in academic career or not. It is better for the candidate to choose only those optional subject in which their basic concepts are well cleared, there must be keen interest and have much availability of good study material. So you can opt medical science for the UPSC Examination even having BDS degree.
