you can not appear in the same examination you wish to appear because this examination is
only for boys for admission in all the three branches of indian defence system.

but you can sit in the scra examination .

scra stands for :- SPECIAL CLASS RAILWAY APPERENTIS in mechanical branch.

after clearing the examination successfully you can do your engineering in mechanical branch.
but before you apply for the same you should check the eligibility criteria for the same .

every year union public service commission releases the notification for scra examination in the month of September/October.

The NDA Exam as the exam is only conducted for the male

Unmarried candidates and females are not allowed for the exam

Let me tell you the eligibility criteria of both the examinations:

National defence academy examinations:

Academic qualifications: 10+2 from a recognised board with english and mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Sex:Male only

AGE :16.5 to 19 years

Nationality: Indian

SCRA stands for the Special class Railway apprentice examinations.

Academic qualifications: 10+2 from a reocgnised board with PCM and english as compulsory subjects.

Sex:Male and female both

AGE :17-21 years

Sorry to say there is no scope for Girls in the NDA.


Female candidates are not eligible for the exam.


Only unmarried male candidates are eligible for the exam.


The age limit is the 16.5 years to 19 years.


Qualification required higher secondary class passed with science subject.


If the girls want to go with the army, air force, navy then girls candidates give the CDS exam.


For SCRA exam:-


Both girls and men are eligible for the exam.


The age limit for the exam is the 17 to 21 years.


Candidate must have complete the higher secondary passed with science subject.

Dear questioner according to your question A girl candidate can not appear N.D.A as it is prohibited because there are huge training which is impossible for a girl candidate to overcome successfully as a whole.

SCRA can be competed bya a citizen of Indis,he/she must be a graduate and the age must be within 17 years to 21 years.

THE NDA EXAM only for boys .


but you can apply for CDS EXAM.

IF you have completed graduation from the recognized university then you can apply for CDS EXAM.

NDA Exam Give By Only Boys. Girls are not eligible for any defense, girls only gives the Air Force Exam.

Yes You can appear for exam SCRA but not for NDA.

For NDA only unmarried male candidates are allowed to appear for the exam.

SO unfortunately girls are not allowed to appear for NDA exam but if you want to join defence services then you have an option to join this area after you complete your graduation.

The exam is known by the name CDS & this is also conducted by UPSC.

Your age should be between 19 to 25 yrs to apply for CDS exam.

You must have passed your 10+2 exam from a recognized University/ Board.

You must have obtained 1st or 2nd division in your 12th.

I have mixed news for you.
The bad one is that you are not eligible for the NDA/NA Exam.
And the good one is that you can still write SCRA Exam (provided you satisfy other eligibility conditions for the Exam).

Actually NDA/NA exam is only for Unmarried Male candidates.

The eligibility criteria of SCRA Exam is as follows:

Nationality: Indian

Girls ca not apply for NDA after 12th because according to UPSC,the girls are not eligible for NDA after 12th.They can only apply through CDS entrance exam after graduation course.

Girls can apply for civil services after graduation.As there are three types of civil services that comes under both NDA and CDS entrance exam.

1.Indian Navy
2.Indian Air Force
3.Indian Military

And if you qualify the NDA entrance exam then you will be called for the final interview and you will be admitted into the civil services for which you are eligible or which you want.

Friend, as far as NDA Examination is concerned, there is gender based restriction. That is, only boys are allowed to appear for NDA Examination and girls are not considered eligible for NDA Examination. I am sorry to say that you are not allowed to give the NDA exam being a girl candidate, because for giving the NDA exam, only male candidates are eligible. But for the SCRA exam, you are eligible.
The eligibility criteria for giving the SCRA exam is that you need to be a 12th class passed student and your age should be in between 17-21 years.

I am really sorry to tell you that you cannot apply for the NDA exam.
Because NDA exam is speciallly for the male candidates.

You can apply only for the SCRA (Special Class Railway Apprentices) Exam.
For SCRA you must passed the 12th class from the science stream from a recognized board with atleast 60% marks.
You must be Indian.

After clearing the SCRA exam you can enter into the mechanical engineering.
And after completing the mechanical engineering you will given the post of officer in Railways.
