• I have done Mechanical engineering diploma in 2007 conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education. Presently working as a Mechanical engineer in an Industry. Can I apply for UPSC and MPSC exams?

No! you cannot appear in UPSC graduate level exams as a diploma holder.

-Some of the exams by UPSC at graduate level are Civil Services exam,Engineering Services exam,CDS,CPF,IFS.

-After you complete your graduation in mechanical engineering you can apply to above posts.

-At the undergraduates level i.e.12th pass/equivalent you can you can apply to UPSC SCRA & NDA exams.

-Eligibility For :

SCRA-candidates should be 1st/2nd division pass in 12th/intermediate/eqivalent exam with maths and physics/chemistry as one of the subjects.Age limit 17-21yrs.

NDA-Candidates should be 12th pass for army wing and for airforce & navy wing 12th pass with maths & Physics.Age Limit 16.5-19yrs.

You are required to complete your graduation to be eligible for UPSC exams.

You can apply for engineering from mechanical branch & complete graduation.

Complete your graduation as soon as possible.

Civil Services Examination
Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS)

Eligibility required for the exams:

Age Limit: - The candidate should be minimum 21 years of age and the maximum age is 30 years.

Educational Qualification: - The candidate should have a degree completed from any of the institutes established by an Act of Parliament or any University deemed by the University Grant Commission under section 3, Act, 1956.

to become eligible to apply for the upsc examination
you need to complete graduation of engineering in any stream or subject from a recognized university under ugc.

be sure about the age limit for being applicable for the upsc examinations
the age limit for the general category candidates is 21-30 years .
for the obc candidates it is 21-33 years
and for the sc/st candidates the age limit is 21-35 years .

also there is no percentage bar to apply for the upsc examinations.

after your graduation you will become eligible for the exams such as
Central Police Forces Examination (CPF)
Civil Services Examination
Combined Defense Services Examination (CDS)

you are not eligible because you are a diploma holder and diploma holders are not eligible for civil services examination ,because the minimum educational qualification for the same is graduation from a govt. Recognized university .

And also you have to fill the other qualifications given below .


Eligibility criteria:-

1. The candidate must be the citizen of india.
2. The candidate must be a graduate from a govt. Recognized university.


Age criteria:-

for general category:-21-30 years.
For obc category :21-33 years.
Fro sc/st category: 21-35 years.

No of attempts:-

for generals:- 4 attempts.
For obc :- 7 attempts.
For sc/st :-21-35 years.

to become eligible to apply for the upsc examination
you need to have graduation or engineering degree
in any stream or subjects from a recognized university under UGC.

the age limit to apply for the upsc examination is 21 to 30 years .
there is no percentage bar to apply for the upsc examination.
so you need not worry about your percentage in graduation.
passing marks in the graduation will make you eligible to apply for the upsc examinations like

As you you have passed in diploma but the

Diploma holders are not allowed for upsc exam

As the diploma is equivalent to the 12th

And for the exam the candidate should be pass in graduation

As on the basis of your 12th class

You can apply for the two exam

Like SCRA And the NDA Exam

Eligibility for the NDA Exam:

-The age of the candidate should be 16.5-19

-The candidate should be pass in 12th class board exam

-The candidate should have pcm as subjects in the 12th class

Eligibility for the SCRA Exam :

-The candidate must be pass in 12th class

-the candidate should be pass 12th class with pcm

-The candidate age should be between 17 to 21

-The candidate must be a Indian
