My friend,you need to give IPS exam to get into Police Services.
IPS Exam stands for Indian Police Service [IPS]. The exam is conducted by Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) to select candidates for the All India Services and for the services coming under the Group A and Group B of the Central Government.

Dear it is fact that UPSC IPS - Indian Police Service Exam is under civil services but UPSC board conduct a self IPS exam for IPS post and to apply for IPS Officer exam you should have following eligibilities :
A bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university and if you are pursuing final year of your graduation then also you may apply for Indian Police Service Exam
Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category
UPSC conduct separate exam for IPS post means if you are appearing for IAS exam under civil service so that you may not become an IPS officer and to become an IPS officer you will have to qualify the separate exam of IPS post which is conducted once in a year
IPS post require some physical standards which are following as :
Hight Male - 165 cm for general males and 160 for ST category candidates
Hight Female - 150 cm for general females and 145 for ST category candidate
Chest Male - 84 cm with 5 cm of expansion
Chest Female - 79 cm with 5 cm expansion
Eye Sight - For good eye your distant vision should be - 6/6 or 6/9 and for worst eye it should be between - 6/12 or 6/9 and J1 distant vision for good eye and J2 for worst eye.
Ear - Normal ear cavity and frequency should be between 1000 to 4000 and hearing impairment should not be more than 30 decibels
Nasal - Candidate - Male/Female should not stammer while speaking/talking/conversing etc.
Ladies or female candidate should not be pregnant while physical or medical test
Examination Pattern : There would be two types of examination and then interview process which is following
1. Preliminary exam : In this exam you will have to qualify two different objective type papers which has 400 marks means 200 marks for each single paper
2. Mains Exam : After qualifying prelims examination you would be allowed to apply for mains and the pattern of mains exam is following as :
Paper I - English Language - 300 Marks
Paper II - Any one Indian Language from the list of UPSC board - 300 Marks
Paper III - Essay Writing - 200 Marks
Paper IV and V - General Studies I and II for 300 marks each
Paper VI and VII - Any Selected subject from the list - 300 marks
Paper VIII and IX - Any Selected optional subject from the list - 300 Marks
total marks alloted in mains exam - 2000 and qualifying in mains exam and in each paper is necessary to get the call for interview and medical and physical standards test
Interview Process : If you qualify both of the prelims and mains then you would be called for interview process and if you qualify the interview then you would become an IPS officer
