Of-course you can Join CBI after completing Mechanical Engineering But you have to Crack Civil Services Exam by the UPSC and opt Indian Police Service. Than only you can deputed to CBI . and same for INcome Tax department. So, Cracking Civil Services is not an easy task but also not an impossible one.

qualification: bachelor degree of any stream
age limit: 18-27 yrs. age relaxation for sc/st/obc/ph/etc.,

Yes you can join the Income tax and the Cbi after
Completing your degree means B.TECH
But you have to apply for the ssc common graduate level exam
As ssc is recruiting for the income tax and the CBI
And for the ssc exam you need following qualification:
Education : The candidate should be pass in graduation from a recognized indian university
Age limit: The age should be between 18-27
And relaxation will be given to the obc of 3 years
And for the sc.st of 5 years
And for the ph candidates it is 10 years
And if you are filling the above requirements
Then you can apply for the ssc exam

To join CBI(Central Bureau Of Investigation ) you have CGPE( Combined Graduate Preliminary Exam) which comes under UPSC SSC ( Staff Selection Commission ) Exam.
Eligibility Criteria :
Graduation with minimum 55 %
age: 20years to 25 years.

UPSC don�t conduct the exam for the CBI and Income tax department.
For this you will have to apply for SSC.
SSC conducts the CGL (Combined graduation Level) exam every year for the recruitment of following post
CBI
Income tax assistant
Sale tax assistant
Junior accountant
Auditor
Compiler
UDC
Sub inspector in paramilitary forces
Etc.
You can apply for above posts only single application form.
In application form you will have to fill the preference order of posts.
Qualification for CGL exam
You should be graduated in any stream from recognized university or its equivalent
Your age should be 18-27 years
Age relaxation
SC/ST + 5 years
OBC + 3 years
PH + 10 years
You must be Indian.
Exam pattern
Tier I (200 marks)
Tier II ( 400 marks)
Interview (100 marks)
