Hi Aspirant,

UPSC conducts the CDS exam for the officer post of defense service.

CDS exam is conducted twice in a year at national level.

In this year CDS II exam was held on 16/9/2012.


Exam pattern for CDS exam

Syllabus for IMA, NA and AFA academy

Elementary mathematic ( 100 marks)

English ( 100 marks)

General knowledge ( 100 marks)


Syllabus for Officer training Academy

General knowledge ( 100 marks)

English ( 100 marks)


The paper of general knowledge carries 100 marks.

For the preparation of CDS syllabus you should consult reference books and NCERT books.

You can make grab on GS section by newspaper and reading competitive magazine.

You can study the pratiyogita darpan. You can also listen news for current affairs.

For preparation of general knowledge:-

1)-Read newspaper regularly.
According to me best newspapers are:-
1)-The Hindu.
2)-The times of India.
3)-Hindustan.

2)-Buy pratyogita darpan from the book depotevery month and then read and learn this pratyogita darpan.
You also buy krushetra monthlybook and learn this book also.

3)-Regularly watch news channels.
4)-You also read andlearn 10,11,& 12th class ncert books.
