Examination Pattern for IAS exam :

Preliminary exam - Objective type 2 papers which contains 200 marks each and qualifying in each paper is necessary to get the chance for next step

Mains exam - After qualifying the preliminary exam you would be allowed to apply for mains exam and in mains exam you would have to choose any two subjects for your mains exams and you may choose any two of the following subjects :

    1. Agriculture
    2. Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
    3. Anthropology
    4. Botany
    5. Chemistry
    6. Civil Engineering
    7. Commerce and Accountancy
    8. Economics
    9. Electrical Engineering
    10. Geography
    11. Geology
    12. History
    13. Law
    14. Management
    15. Mathematics
    16. Mechanical Engineering
    17. Medical Science
    18. Physics
    19. Philosophy
    20. Political Science and International Relations
    21. Psychology
    22. Public Administration
    23. Sociology
    24. Statistics
    25. Zoology

Dear if you are thinking about to choose the combination of Zoology and Anthropology then you have decided good combination for your mains exam and you would have to qualify 4 papers for these two subjects in your mains exam and one paper would be for any Indian language selected from the list, one paper for English Language, one for essay and two papers for general studies and the total marks for mains exam are 2000 and qualifying in each and every paper is necessary for the candidates.

If you think about the selected subjects that they are tough to prepare for your IAS mains exam and not easy to crack so dear if you will not study about that particular subject so that it would be really tough for you and if you are continue on your study and practicing well each day so no once fail you in the exam.

    All the best

    dear friend,

it is just a myth that choosing Anthropology and Zoology as optionals for IAS is hard to crack the exam. If you are well prepared for the subjects then you can definitely crack the exam.

IAS stands for Indian Administration Services. It is a post which you can get through Civil Services exam that is conducted by UPSC.

In Civil Services exam a large number of candidates appear and only less number of are selected. So there is large competition for exam. And Exam is also not an easy. So you choose any of subjects, no one is easy. if you have prepared then you can crack the exam.

    Good Luck.......
