for IAS you need not to have any special stream elgibility. for IAS a person must be graduated from a recongnised university.
if you want to engineering stream you can choose but for appearing in IAS a candidate should be a graduate by the recognized university by UGC.

Hi friend, for IAS it's not necessary that ou have to choose any one particular stream. It only requires graduation from a recognized university. It's Indian Engineering Services that you require some specific engineering branches which are Electrical,Mechanical,Civil and Electronics and here computer science does not come under ies.For IAS if you are a graduate that will be enough to appear. So you can very wel choose CSE.Amongst the optional subjects, there are physics, chemistry, zoology, botany, statistics, mathem atics, philosophy, indian history, geography, politicial science, law, indian administration, animal husbandry, etc. For details visit http://upsc.gov.in
    Good Luck!

-Candidates must not have any pending backlogs.

    Age criteria:-
-Age limit to appear in this exam is 21-30 years.
-Age relaxation is available for SC/ST, OBC candidates.
-For SC/ST- 5 years of relaxation is there.

Re: Which Engineering stream should I choose to become IAS officer in Future?

    Dear pal,
    • To join Indian Administrative service One require a bachelor degree from a discipline not necessarily from the engineering. If you are interested in engineering you can choose to do the same.
    • The screening process for the exam includes aptitude exam followed by main exam and personnel interview.
    • Aptitude paper include two paper with the below syllabus. It includes Indian and world History and Geography, records and latest trending topics, Comprehension, general mental ability, logical reasoning, data analysis, etc
    • So for the preparation of aptitude you do not require any subject knowledge so you can choose any discipline. The main exam includes 5 compulsory papers and four optional papers.
    • If you wish to appear in engineering paper them you need to choose civil or mechanical or electrical or electronics. It is not that you should choose that discipline.
    • You can choose any paper from the list that is available . So choose any engineering discipline of your interest.

Re: Which Engineering stream should I choose to become IAS officer in Future?

See my friend......In engineering all the streams are equally preferable....and there is no relation between the stream you have choosen and the syllabus that studied for IAS exam.....But you need to have a degree from recognised university....And come to select perticular stream that is up to you....if you interested in social services then you need to have a degree after that you will prepare for IAS exam............First of all you have to concentrate on your engineering subjects because if you all clear the subjects then only you will be called as complete graduate otherwise you did not have degree....after that you should prepare for IAS exams .....so in this there is no question about which stream is to be best or some thing else ...any way all the best my friend.....
