Friend all the graduation degree is good with a view to apply for the civil service exam.
You can apply for the Civil Service exam with the graduation in any stream.
So friend you should do the graduation as per your interest.
At the time of graduation you should also start the preparation for the Civil Service exam.
and you should also decide the optional subject for the mains exam.
You can also join any good coaching for the preparation.
In coaching center you can study in competitive environment.
Study newspaper and magazine for the GS.

Hello Dear,
there is no specific degree for appearing the IAS exam.
All graduate candidate can appear the IAS exam. IAS exam is also known as CSAT exam.
according to my point of view Art degree is much better for IAS exam as compare to the other degree.
In Art candidate cover mostly syallubus of the IAS that's why it is much easier than other.
For CSAT
candidate should be graduate in any stream and the age of the candidate should be 21 to 30 year,
candidate should be Indian
Best of luck

its depends on your preparation..
all bachelors degrees are elegible for examination but
arts subjects are more adventages in qualifing this examination............
There is no specific degree which can give you certain edge over others.Every graduation degree holder is eligible to apply and there are questions from every subject in the prelims which places every one on level field. Moreover,in the Mains exam, there are subjects from all streams of education and nearly all the major subjects. So there is no special benefit for any degree as all will get nearly the same level of difficulty or ease.
