Re: Can a diploma holder apply for engineering services exam or not?

    Dear Friend

Your query is incomplete due to the following reason :

    >>First of all you have not mentioned that what is your present qualification .

Friend,IES stands for the Indian Engineering services and for this exam ,you need to have bachelor's degree in any discipline of engineering /technology from a recognized university .Final year candidates can also apply for the exam.

Now if you have not done 10+2 and you have done diploma in any stream and after that you have pursued your bachelor's degree in engineering by taking admission in any engineering college through the Lateral entry entrance test.

In this case you are eligible for the exam and if you are only a diploma holder then you are not eligible for it.

Candidates have to choose their subjects for the conventional papers from the following core branches only:

    1.Civil engineering

    2.Mechanical engineering

    3.Electrical engineering

    4.Electronics engineering and telecommunications

The age limit for the exam is :

    >>General:21-30 years

    >>OBC:21-33 years

    >>SC/ST:21-35 years.

    Examination pattern is as below:

Hope the information provided by me will definitely help you. However if you have still any other query then please leave your message here.

    All the best

Re: Can a diploma holder apply for engineering services exam or not?

Dear you can apply for Indian Engineering Service Examination if you have completed your :

Bachelor's degree in engineering as BE or B. Tech in any one of the following disciplines from a recognized university

    Civil Engineering
    Electrical Engineering
    Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
    Mechanical Engineering

If you are pursuing final year of your bachelor's degree then also you are eligible to apply for this examination

Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in upper age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC category candidates

Equivalent qualification is not accepted by UPSC board because candidates required for degree of complete 4 years and duration of diploma is 3 years which makes you ineligible to apply for this examination means if you have completed a diploma of 3 years in any discipline of engineering then you are not eligible to apply for this examination

I have attached complete official recruitment notification for this examination which is released by UPSC board this year and you will get all details in this advertisement please download
