Friend you can apply for the Custom and Excise inspector posts through SSC CGL exam.
This exam is conducted every year for the recruitment at various posts of central government.
In this year the last date to apply for the CGL exam was 15/2/2013.
So friend you can not apply for this exam now.

Tier I (200 marks)
Tier II ( 400 marks)
Interview ( 100 marks)
