Re: How to fill the application form of BA? Which subjects will help me further in UPSC Civils preparation?
Dear first of all I would like to inform you about your query that BA is three years bachelor's degree course that is offered by various regular and open/distance universities in India and a candidate can get admission in BA program after completing all the required eligibilities of that university or college and here you have not mentioned the name of any university or college where you wants to get admission so how can we help you in this situation because you must select a university or college first that should be reputed and recognized by UGC or AICTE then you can contact to the officials of that university who are responsible for admissions in various programs and get complete details about admission procedure and follow that procedure to get admission
Basically a candidate should be passed in Higher/Senior Secondary Examination from a recognized board with at least 50% marks and 45% marks for SC/ST category candidates to get admission in BA program but some of the universities are there which provides admission directly in BA program and some of the universities are there which allows only those candidates who pass in the entrance examination of the university as DU - University of Delhi and having higher percentage marks in previous academics so your choice depends on you that where you wants to be admitted for BA course and do not forget that BA is available through distance mode also by top open universities in India - IGNOU/ Bhoj Open Universities etc.
There are some subjects that are under BA Course and may be selected any three by the candidate along with one necessary subject that changes in each semester - Entrepreneurship/ Computers/ English Language etc. and subjects of arts section are - History, Geography, Political Science & International Relations, Public Administration, Sociology etc. so you can select any subject and may complete your BA and all these above mentioned subjects under Arts are listed in the optional subjects of the civil service main examination that may be highly useful for you
Dear History, Geography and Sociology subjects are really helpful for both prelims and main examination because these subjects and topics related to these are listed in the syllabus of preliminary examination so you can take this combination and I would force you to take History and Political Science must with your combination and one subject should be according to your choice or combination provided by the university so your combination may be as :
History + Geography + Political Science
History + Geography + Sociology
History + Political Science + Sociology
History + Public Administration + Political Science
After getting qualified in prelims examination of civil service that consist of two papers - GS and CSAT contains 400 marks for all objective type questions, you will be allowed to appear for main examination and main examination structure is following
Paper I is comprise of two different sections - Essay Writing - 200 marks and English comprehension for 100 marks = 300 Marks
Paper II, III, IV & V consist of General Studies - 250 marks for each
Paper VI and VII based on the optional subject selected by the candidate from the list that is mentioned below
Agriculture
Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
Anthropology
Botany
Chemistry
Civil Engineering
Commerce and Accountancy
Economics
Electrical Engineering
Geography
Geology
History
Law
Management
Mathematics
Mechanical Engineering
Medical Science
Philosophy
Physics
Political Science and International Relations
Psychology
Public Administration
Sociology
Statistics
Zoology
You can select any subject from the list but mostly you should choose that subject which you have studied at your graduation level and having good proficiency in that subject so you will have no problem in qualifying both papers and scoring good marks and I have highlighted major subjects that may be chosen by you but only one because both papers are based on one subject so you are allowed to choose anyone and before that you must analyze your knowledge and expertise in the preferred subject then only fill in application otherwise once choice can not be changed at any cost
You can get complete syllabus of all optional subjects in this attachment with all other details
Re: How to fill the application form of BA? Which subjects will help me further in UPSC Civils preparation?
Hello friend,
first of all here i will clear you one thing that this forum is not the right forum to ask about this type of questions .
This is UPSC DISCUSSION FORUM so you are allowed to ask questions only for upsc examination so I'm not allowed to give the
answer of your first question. i only give the answer of your question ,.,,
Here you asked about the subjects that will help in your civil services examination preparation so i will tell you that there is no matter
of subjects in civil services examination , you have to choose only two optional subjects , whatever subjects you take in your
graduation course according to your interest , you can choose two subjects in those subjects as your optional subjects ,so don't worry
and take any subject that you want to read about and love to read with interest .
but whats the matter of all this if you will not eligible for the examination. so to check that whether you are eligible or not .
Eligibility criteria:-
1. Only those candidate are eligible to sit in the examination having the citizenship of India.
2. the candidate having a Graduation degree with a state / central govt. recognized university.
Age criteria:-
* general category students are allowed to to sit in the examination between the age 21-30.
# obc category aspirants are allowed to sit in the examination between the age 21-33. ( they get 3 years age relaxation)
* sc/st category candidates are allowed to sit in the examination between the age of 21-35 yrs.( due to age relaxation of 5 yrs.)
there is a barrier of No of attempts allowed in the examination is a big phobia for the aspirants of civil services .especially for the general category and obc category aspirants .
