Re: Am I not eligible for IAS exam if pursuing a graduation course related to computers?

    dear friend,

no, you have wrong information that graduates from computer field are not eligible for IAS. for IAS you need graduation in any discipline from recognized college or university. you can also apply for the exam while pursuing in final year of graduation. it does not matter you have done graduation in computer stream or any other stream. so don't worry about that and you are fully eligible for IAS.

for IAS you have to write Civil Services exam that is conducted by UPSC every year. IAS is one of the top ranked post of INDIA and it is considered the prestigious post.

Civil Services exam constitutes three parts:
    1. CSAT(Prelims)
    2. Mains
    3. Interview

your age must be within 21 years to 30 years on 1 August of the year of exam. there is relaxation in upper age limit up to 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

UPSC provide the facility to apply for the exam online on following official link :

    http://upsconline.nic.in/

    Good Luck...

Re: Am I not eligible for IAS exam if pursuing a graduation course related to computers?

    Dear Aspirant!

Yes, you are eligible to apply for IAS examination even you are completing Graduation related to Computers.
Because there is no matter regarding branches or streams in Graduation curse.

But, you have to be complete your Graduation in Recognized university or affiliated Institution then your degree is valid and eligible.

Even if you are in final year of Graduation also eligible.

    ### My suggestion is that Prepare well IAS syllabus then only apply for it because there will be a Restrictions to apply for IAS examinations.Without preparing for it and attempting will loose your Eligibity for future attempts.

    Good luck

    No my friend,

there is no any restriction of subject in civil services examination .

you just have a graduation degree from a govt. recognized university the only requirement is the degree.

yes the problem with the subject is that there will be no any subjects related to computers so you have to choose a different subject

for the examination as optional subject in mains..

but no matter of tension, you have so many choices in the offered list of subjects you can choose any two subjects .

but the matter is that you are fulfilling the requirements of the examination sufficiently or not??

see the criteria given below and the details.

    Basic requirements :-

    * there are only two basic requirements.

    1. the candidate must have the Indian citizenship.

    2. the Candidate must be A graduate ( with ugc recognized university)

    Age requirement:-

    1. for general category the age criteria is :- 21-30 years.

    2. for obc category the age criteria is:- 21-33 years.

    3. for sc/st category the age criteria is :- 21-35 years.

    No of attempts:-

    1. the no. of attempts for general category is :- only 4 .

    2. the no. of attempts for obc category is:- 7 attempts.

    3. the no. of attempts for sc/st category is:- no limit.
