Re: How many attempts are allowed for a SC, OBC and General candidate in UPSC Civil Services exam respectively?

    1) General category candidates can appear for civil services exam 4 times within their allowed age limit of 21-30 years.
    2) OBC candidates ( non creamy ) can give the exam 7 times within their allowed age limit. they are also given upper age relaxation for 3 years. so the permissible age limit for them is 21- 33 years of age.
    3) However there is no restriction on number of attempts for SC/ST candidates. They can appear any number of times as long as they fullfill the age criteria .
Sc/ST candidates are given age relaxation for 5 years . So the eligible age limit is 21- 35 years.
the reference date for calculating age is 1st august of the year you are applying for the exam.

Dear if you are willing to apply for civil service examination which is conducted by UPSC board then you should know that there are some limitations for each category candidates in attempting the examination which are following as

General Category Candidates - 4 times only
OBC Category Candidates - 7 times only
SC/ST Category Candidates - No limit but only till 35 years of age

Dear if you really wants to crack the civil services exams then you should not make yourself demotivated with this type of limitations and prepare and concentrate only on your study because if you prepared well for the examination and ready to challenge the world with your knowledge then you should not hesitate and go for preparation and if possible then you should find out the best coaching institute for civil services preparation in your area and give your 80% or above time only for preparation because without this you can never get selected for any examination and practice is everything for your in your life and if you would solve at least 3 practice sets everyday then you can easily get qualified in the prelims and mains examination

UPSC is going to conduct the civil service prelims exam at 19th of may 2013

    All the best
