Dear friend though this depend on candidates' IQ/Memory/Habit of craming etc.Actually commonly tell a candidate can crack CIVIL SERVICES if he/she in a position to spend 10 months and engaging in preparation for CSE studies daily 10 hours.Totally a candidate usually need to 10 months with 10 hours working daily to spend for the purpose.
Thank you,
To Crack the Civil Services Exam(CSE) one needs to study for long hours, almost 6-8hrs.
About 8-9hrs of study time is required as syllabus for CSE is very vast and subjective.
Along with clear Basic Concepts about topics, one needs Indepth Knoweledge about topics.
Only Long Study Hours is not required to clear the CSE but instead Foucussed Study Hours is more important.
Instead of studying for endless Hours,it is more important to 6-8hrs in a focussed manner i.e. covering more
and more matter grasping the topics and retaining them in ones memory.
Revision is very important to retain the topics read by you.
You can prepare yourn own notes on each topic to revise later,it is easier this way.
Prepare simultaneously for CSE Prelims/CSAT Exam and Mains Exams.
There is very little time for preparations in between announcement of CSAT Results and Mains Exams.
For Mains Exams 2 Optional Subjects have to be prepared and 2 papers of each subject studied.
Candidates indepth Knoweledge and Intellegence is tested in Mains Exams.
There is no shortcut to Success,Hard Work is only the Key.
So devote time for study in a focussed manner to crack the CSE.
All The Best!
Friend, to be successful in the examination, you have to put your all efforts and your best. You have to devote your severe hard work, proper planning, time management, dedication, sincerity, and strong determination. It is advisable to you to concentrate on quality of self study daily rather than quantity of self study daily. It means try to study with full concentration and keeping them memorize efficiently rather than thinking about how much hours should be devoted on self study. It varies from candidate to candidates that how many hours should be devote for self study. According to my point of view, minimum 8-10 hours of study daily is sufficient to crack the examination.
Complete Strategy and Study plan for Civil Services Exam 2013 :
Before preparing for Civil Services you should get the complete details about civil services then start your preparation and details are following :
Eligibility Criteria : Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university
Age should not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years and relaxation in age as per government guidelines which is 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC category candidates
Examination Pattern : There are three steps in complete selection process :
Preliminary Exam - Objective Type - Two papers for 400 marks
Mains Exam : Conventional type - 9 papers for 2000 marks
Interview Process : Face to Face interview would only be conducted in English for 300 marks
Preparation for Preliminary Examination : As you know that there are two papers conducted in preliminary exam which has 200 marks each so that you should prepare for prelims by following these guidelines :
>> As for as my views are concerned that you should join any coaching institute to prepare for all your steps
>> Search the best coaching institute in your local area and before register in any coaching you should go to other coaching institute also and get some demo classes then decide that which one is best
>> When you register for coaching institute you should see the complete facility provided by the coaching institute and check the standard of the students of that coaching and also get the knowledge about the study and conversation environment of that coaching
>> You should see that how many students are taking classes in one batch and if there are more than 30 students in a single batch then you should not join that coaching institute
>> You must remember that if coaching institute is accepting the fee in installments then you should go there otherwise you should not pay the fee at once
>> Most of the coaching institutes gives at least 6 hours for one batch in a day so this time is not enough
>> You should be aware too for your study and you must give at least 6-8 hours for your study in a day
>> If you believe in one coaching institutes and consider that best of the best then you should follow the concepts of that coaching institute and whatever they tell you about the study so that you should implement that particular strategy for your study
>> Coaching institutes provide enough study materials for preparation but if you consider that it is not enough so that you may ask for more from your coaching and you should search it on internet
>> Make a study plan and your other routine plan in which you should be according to that plan and give at least 80% time for your study and 20% time for your all other works and daily routines
>> Avoid all those things which does not help you for your increment in your study and prepare hard
>> Coaching institutes provides weekly and monthly speed test for preliminary exam so that you should prepare hard for your test and try to be on first rank in your institute and for that you will have to study hard because preliminary exam is not too tough to be cleared
>> If you will study concentratively then you can easily clear the preliminary exam
>> One paper would be separate for CSAT and one for GS so that you should give more time for that subject in which you are not good and keep practicing for that
Mains Examination Plan :
If you successfully qualify the preliminary exam then you should not be so happy for preliminary exam because it is not your success but you have crossed the one step so that you should be ready for something big and huge competition :
>> In this section you will not get any objective type multiple choice questions papers but you will get 9 papers which would only be conducted as conventional papers and you will have to write too much in each and every paper and you will have to select any two subjects in mains exam offered by UPSC board
>> For your practice your coaching institute will make you prepared but it's our responsibility so that we should think much about our career so that you should get some bundles of blank papers of A4 size and purchase some books and download previous years papers of mains exam and also download some state PSC mains papers and know the topics.
>> After reading the topics you should search that topic at internet and read that completely and you can write your answer in any language
>> When you get some highlighted topics so that you should note down and think over that and start your writing on various topics
>> Fix the time in you watch and try to solve all topics very sharply in as less time as possible
>> You should write your answer to the point which is asked in the question and if you are unable to answer any question then you should not write anything and leave that question
If you will try to write at least 15-20 topics everyday then you may easily crack the mains exam
Interview Process Preparation Strategy : If you qualify both prelims and mains exam then you would be called for interview process in the UPSC board and to prepare for your interview process you should remember these guidelines
>> You must take the guidance of your coaching teachers and seniors who have faced the interview process
>> You must read more and more and prepare hard for your interview and you should prepare about yourself that from where you belong, hobbies, what you have done in your study, what are your achievements etc.
>> If possible then you should meat any IAS officer of your district and ask them some guidelines respectively
>> You should also go to those officers who have been selected through state service commission etc.
>> You should be confident for your interview and answer as they could not ask you anything again from your answer means your answer should be clearly defined
>> Don't forget to remember the GOD because GOD is everything and almighty so that you should prey the GOD before your examination and interview and reach to the interview board and GOD will definitely help you
All the Very Best
